I'm back......

Here I am! I didn't fall off the face of the earth. I just took a break from reality and blogging. I did decide to go to doctor concerning my weight in October. As of November 29, 2007, I have lost a total of 16 pounds. I go back to the doctor on January 3, 2008. He is hoping I can lose at least eight to ten pounds this month. It has been a challenge since it is the holiday seasons. I need to buckle up and just do it. I have started this journey and I really need to finish it. I need to finish it for myself first and then I think it will help many other areas of my life. It will help my self confidence and I know I struggle with that on a daily basis. So here is to the next chapter of my life!

Step One

Ok, I took step one in my battle with losing weight. I did those dreaded things called sit-ups. I only did ten, but it is the first step. They almost kicked my rear end. Now I need to work myself up and do 15 next. Today I went for a walk. I am slowly but surely moving in the right direction.

Hints continued...

17. Always remove the skin and fat from chicken and fish before cooking.
18. Never, never, never eat between meals.
19. Any time you are hungry between meals. Wait 2o minutes. You will probably not even be hungry any more.
20. If you are still hungry after a 20-minute delay, drink a large glass of hot or cold water, then wait 20 minutes more. If you are still hungry, eat a Happy Hunger Helper.
21. If you do have a particular food craving, first follow rules 19 and 20. If you still absolutely must eat that food, allow yourself three small bites. Throw the rest away, even before you eat.
22. If you live alone, throw out all the fatty junk food you have immediately!
23. Avoid buffets! If you must go, use a salad or dessert plate instead of a large dinner plate.
24. If you are a nervous nibbler, chew sugar-free gum instead of munching food.
25. Remember food from other people's plates has calories too, and so do leftovers.
26. Eat only foods you like! Do not eat just to be polite.
27. Never go out hungry, especially for lunch, cocktails, or dinner.

Hints to help you be the weight you want to be

1. Socialize with friends at places where you do not eat. Walk in the park or window shop.
2. Never go food shopping hungry.
3. Slow down! Always eat sitting down, actively savoring every bite as you chew.
4. Designate a specific place to eat at home or at work. This will help you break the habit of eating on the run.
5. Never eat in front of the television, at the movies, or as a spectator watching sports.
6. Eat only when you are hungry!
7. Cut your food into small pieces; take small bites; chew each bite at least ten times.
8. If you are served a large portion in a restaurant, simply decide immediately to eat only half.
9. Order appetizers as main courses.
10. Try to eat slower than everyone else.
11. Taste your food! Don't add extra salt!
12. Fill salt shakers with other seasonings.
13. When eating in restaurants, always specify that any sauces, sour cream, butter, maragine, and salad dressings be served "on the side".
14. Try salads without dressing- or with lemon or balsamic vinegar.
15. Always keep Happy Hunger Helpers nearby and ready for snack attacks.
16. Fry in non-stick pans with low-calorie, non-fat cooking spray instead of butter or oil.
